LoveMode.com Order Review

So I just got my order from Lovemode.com. I got 2 shirts (here is one and here is the other). First things first, let me just say that their shipping is extremely fast! I put in my order on Wednesday at 10:45 AM EST, and it arrived here today (Friday of the same week). I live in New York, and they sent it from California!! That makes me very happy. Especially since I didn't have to pay for the shipping :)

The shirts themselves are really nice! The first one is a really nice soft feeling material. The only thing about it is that it's a little bit whiter in the picture than it is in real life, but it's really not that big of an issue to me! It's super cute and perfect for spring and summer. It would look really cute paired with shorts, a skirt, jeans, leggings, everything! I got it in a medium, which is the size I usually order from all stores, and it fits me perfectly. (This shirt also comes in black and a light pink).

The second shirt is gorgeous! I love the colors on it. I could really see myself doing some awesome eye makeup to go along with it. This too would be lovely paired with any kind of bottoms. It would also look cute with a belt tied at the waist as well. I also got this in a size medium, and it fits perfectly also.

Overall, I am extremely happy with my order. I will definitely be ordering more from them in the future (as soon as I build up my bank account a little bit :) ). There were other tops and dresses that I would have gotten had I more money. I highly recommend this store! Remember, it's only an online store so you can't go there directly, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue. They're having their free shipping and 40% off up for a few more weeks I believe so if you want to get something from them, don't hesitate to do so!!

LoveMode - A juniors clothing store

I know this has nothing to do with makeup, but this is also my blog so I can write about whatever I want. :-p

Anyway, I just found out about this website called LoveMode that has juniors clothing. I know, I know I'm 25, but juniors clothing is what I fit best in :-)

From my understanding, it's a fairly new clothing company. They are only found online so you can't physically go to a store, but their website is very organized and easy to navigate. They have plenty of adorable tops, not much in the way of jeans, some nice dresses and skirts, and apparently their accessory line is "coming soon" according to the website. I really liked a lot of the tops, but I only ordered 2 as money is kinda tight right now...(plus I recently ordered some stuff from HauteLook and dELiA*s so there's some more money gone :-P)

So they are having a store wide sale for 40% off (which is really good!) and free shipping on all orders, no price limit!! (I am such a sucker for free shipping). Also, if you "Like" their page on Facebook, you are automatically entered in a contest to receive a $50 gift card. Pretty darn cool!

If you end up ordering anything, leave a comment letting me know what you got! I like to see what other people like :-)

As you can see, amazing deals! I went ahead and ordered the set of Diamond Sparkle lip glosses. It says it should be delivered in about 2 weeks so I'll let y'all know how their shipping process is.
Anyway, check out the site. There's other deals they have, but I was most excited about the NYX stuff so I decided to post about it. The sale ends on Friday, April 22 at 8:00 AM PST.

False Eyelashes Rant

Just why? I never understood false eyelashes. I mean, I guess if you're going for a really dramatic look, false eyelashes can really make a difference, but I sometimes just think they're unnecessary. Especially if someone created such a beautiful look with their eyeshadow and then they put on these huge, long eyelashes that just covers it all up. Every girl of course wants to have long, luscious eyelashes, and maybe I just don't understand it because my eyelashes are kinda long, but they just seem a little excessive sometimes.

What really freaks me out though is that most false lashes are 100% human hair...why would you want someone else's hair on your eyes? Haha I know it's completely sanitary and all, but it still just creeps me out just a bit. I've never exactly worn false lashes so I guess I can't really understand all the hype surrounding them, and I will probably never wear them, but whatever floats your boat I guess?

Mini Review on my ELF purchases

I tried all the ELF products that I ordered and there is only one thing that I do NOT like. The white cream eyeliner that I got is terrible. I tried it on my waterline, and you could barely tell I was wearing anything. Kind of a disappointment. It may just be because it's white so I can't judge all their cream eyeliners the same way. Also, it could be just because I was trying it on my waterline. Then again, I don't really know where else I would use it a white cream eyeliner. Maybe on my lid as a base for my eyeshadow? Hmmm....

By far my favorite thing that I got are the brushes. I ordered the 9 piece brush set ($15) along with a separate kabuki brush ($5). Can I just rave about this kabuki brush for a minute? I LOVE it. It is soooo soft and is very handy for putting on powder foundation. If you use powder foundation on a regular basis, you need to buy this brush. For only $5, there is no excuse not to purchase it. The other brushes that came with the set are really good too. In this set, you get a full-face brush, a contour/highlighting brush, a foundation brush, a defining eye brush, an eyeshadow brush, a smudger, an eyeliner brush, a brow comb/brush, and a lip brush. I have used them all except the smudger brush which I will probably never use.

  • The full face brush is alright, I will probably just use the kabuki brush that I bought instead. I guess I could use it as a backup if my kabuki is dirty.
  • I really like the contour/highlighting brush but as with the full-face brush, I don't really like the feel of it on my skin. It could be a little bit softer.
  • The foundation brush isn't too bad. I don't really have an opinion on it either way. I do prefer the other foundation brush I have though.
  • The defining eye brush is a brush that would be good to use in the crease just to deposit the color there, not really to blend it out. It's smaller and angled and soft and a pretty mediocre brush.
  • I really like the eyeshadow brush. The brush part is pretty wide and once again is very soft. It deposits color very well, and is overall a good eye shadow brush.
  • The smudger, like I said, is something I will never use so I'll just skip over it.
  • The eyeliner brush is just a standard thin flat brush. I haven't really used it much, but it isn't too bad. I prefer using an angled eyeliner brush though.
  • The brow/lash comb I think I used like once, and it was alright. Nothing special to say about it.
  • The lip brush I only used once too. I don't really wear lip color that often so I probably won't use it that much.
Overall, I really like the brushes that I ordered. I also got the 83 piece essential makeup collection that contains eyeshadows, blushes, and lip glosses. I'm going to review that for my next blog post so stay tuned!

ELF Cosmetics

Yayyy, I finally got my order from ELF cosmetics. I wasn't expecting it to arrive today so I was totally psyched when I saw it. I've never tried any of their stuff before so I'm hoping I like what I got.

Here's a list of everything I ordered along with a link to them as well:

  • Professional 9 piece brush set. It comes in a nice case, but it smells kinda weird. Hopefully when I wash the brushes they won't smell too bad.
  • Burgundy wristlet so I can carry makeup when I'm out and about.
  • Dual pencil sharpener. Needed a big sharpener for my NYX jumbo eyeliners :)
  • Kabuki face brush. Oh my gosh it is soooo soft. I ordered one from Coastal Scents not too long ago, but I have a feeling I'll be using this one a lot more often.
  • Ivory cream eyeliner. Wanted to try this for lining my waterline because the white eyeliners I have suck. Hoping this works better and lasts longer.
  • Berry Mix cream eyeshadow
  • I ordered the 83 piece makeup set because it was on sale for only $3.50 (it's a $35 value so it was 90% off). I swatched some of the eyeshadows and blushes on my hand, and the texture is very chalky which I'm probably not going to like, but for $3.50, I guess I can over look it. It also comes with some lip glosses too which I may wear from time to time. I'm not really a person who wears lip gloss often (though I seem to buy it often!), but we'll see.
I'm really excited to try all of this out. My ferret seems excited too. She keeps trying to climb into the box it came in :)

ShoeDazzle

I just registered at this site called ShoeDazzle. When you sign up, you take this style quiz which takes a day to process your results. They then show you shoes that would best fit your style as per the quiz. It's completely free to sign up, and whenever you find a pair of shoes you like and would like to purchase, you then pay $39.95 for that pair of shoes. It's a really cool concept, and I was perusing through the selection and found a lot of pretty decent shoes.

I have a link here if you would like to sign up. When you sign up, you get 20% off your first purchase. That means you'll only be paying $31.96. Pretty good deal if you ask me. So sign up today!!

Nail Design

Hello my fellow makeup fiends. I'm trying to get more posts in, but it's been a very, very stressful week for me. I had to put my ferret to sleep yesterday which was not easy for me, at all. I've been trying to hold my head up and look on the bright side. I miss him very much. <3

Anyway, I did a cool nail design today. It's kinda simple, but I really like it. I used black and an opaque white nail polish and alternated between colors on every other nail. I then put polka dots on each nail with the opposite color. The white nail polish with the black polka dots reminds me of a Dalmatian haha.

Here is a list of the products I used:
  • Wet n Wild nail color in 424A - Black Creme
  • Sinful Colors in Snow Me White
  • Sinful Colors in 1638 - Bad Chick
I used a toothpick with the Black Creme nail polish to draw the black dots. The Bad Chick nail polish has a very thin brush that I used to make the white dots.

Sorry the picture isn't very good quality. I took it from my cell phone because my camera was taking worse pictures :(

Feeling kinda down...

Hey everybody. I haven't really posted much lately because my ferret hasn't been doing too well, and I had to leave him at the vet overnight last night. It's really been consuming my thoughts, and I've been feeling really down about it so I probably won't be posting much for a little while. I created a list of things that I want to accomplish on here soon, and it's pretty long so keep a look out for that.

I placed an order with E.L.F.Cosmetics last week which I believe I already mentioned, but they sent me an email yesterday saying that one of the products I ordered is currently out of stock so they're going to ship everything I ordered once that one product comes in again. It's kind of a bummer that I have to wait a little longer, but they said they are going to include a $5 gift card for having to wait which I suppose isn't too bad considering a lot of their stuff is fairly cheap.

Anyway, that's all for now. Everybody just please keep my little Bubba in your thoughts and hope that he makes a speedy recovery.

Pretty Rainbow

I was really bored today and decided to do this really cool eye makeup look. I got the idea from a video that xsparkage made awhile ago on YouTube, (she's my favorite beauty guru) and decided to try it out on myself. It's probably nowhere near as good as her's, but I think it turned out alright. All the colors I used are from the 2nd Edition 120 palette from BH Cosmetics.

Coastal Scents

Hey everybody. So the other day I ordered stuff at coastalscents.com. Just a few random things I needed and some stuff that I wanted to try out. As I just got them in the mail today, I haven't been able to try them out yet, but once I have, I'll post a mini review on each product.

For now, here is a list of everything I purchased and a link to it on the website:

Brushes:

Eye Shadow:

Yesterday I ordered some stuff from E.L.F. cosmetics which I probably won't receive until next week so I will make a post about the stuff I got from there as well when I get it.

New favorite foundation

I have really been liking Revlon's ColorStay Foundation for Normal/Dry skin. I bought it in 110 Ivory, which is the lightest shade they have. (I'm extremely pale :p)

The coverage is medium-heavy. It does require quite a bit of blending into the skin so a good foundation brush is a must. Overall, I like the way it looks on my face. It lasts all day, and I've never had any problems with break outs or any other reactions since I started using it. I sometimes wear it alone, but most of the the time I set it with a mineral loose powder.

The packaging kind of sucks. I would prefer a pump instead of waiting for the product to come out, which can sometimes lead to too much product coming out.

I bought this for 40% off at Rite Aid. The original price was $12.99.

Overall, I give this foundation 8 brushes out of 10. I knocked off 2 brushes for the packaging and also for it's slight toughness to blend.

An introduction to me.

Hey everyone. This is the beginning of something that I hope I will be able to keep up with for a while. Whenever I start things like this I usually get bored with it and just give up. Hopefully this time will be different.

Ever since I was like 13, I've been wearing makeup. When I first started out, I quite honestly wasn't very knowledgeable about the application of makeup. I usually just wore eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. I remember I always wore the same blue eyeshadow constantly because it matched my eyes (I'm all about matching things :)) and the same blue eyeliner.

When I got into high school, I changed it up a little bit. This time my color was pink. Pink eyeshadow almost everyday (I did use the occasional blue eyeshadow again every once in awhile). And this time I moved on to black eyeliner. I never really bought specific brands - just whatever was cheapest considering I was in high school and unemployed. Anytime I wore my makeup, I would always get compliments which made me like makeup even more.

Over the years I have gotten better with application and techniques from studying pictures, and recently I've really gotten into watching makeup tutorials on YouTube where I'm picking up some awesome techniques. I don't consider myself a professional by any means, but I like to do what I like to do.

I don't purchase expensive makeup because I have found that there are plenty of products out there that are great quality even if they aren't as expensive as some others. I work in a drug store where I get a 20% discount on all items so that is where I purchase most of my makeup. I don't really have a particular favorite brand. It really depends on the product quality when it comes to my favorites, not who is making it.

Here is a list of companies who's makeup I have purchased (in no particular order):

  • Revlon
  • L'Oreal
  • Maybelline
  • Cover Girl
  • Physician's Formula
  • Jesse's Girl
  • Jane
  • Coastal Scents
  • BH Cosmetics
  • E.L.F.
  • MAC
  • Wet n Wild
  • NYC (New York Color)
  • NYX Cosmetics
Those are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head. There may be more.

I don't always go all out with my makeup on an everyday basis, but I can never leave the house without applying some sort of foundation and mascara. I love experimenting with different colors so whenever I'm in a playful mood, I like to make my makeup very bold and flashy.

This was just a little bit about my relationship with makeup. I like using it to express myself and my creativity. It's fun trying out different looks, and it definitely is a confidence booster when I get compliments.

What I would like to know from those who are reading this is what are your thoughts on the prices of some of the most expensive cosmetics? Do you think they are fairly priced or do you think some of the prices are just outrageous? Leave a comment and let me know your opinion!!
